Hello!
I'm sorry it has been so long since my last post. It has been quite a rewarding year for Duran Duran, as well as my archival efforts. As the band wraps up their Red Carpet Massacre tour, I am still tracking down amazing promotional posters from around the world. For those devoted Duran fans out there, I thought I might share some of the sweet acquisitions I have recently welcomed into the fold. I hope you enjoy this little view to a thrill!
This poster's image is taken from a televised 1982 performance in Italy:
The Belgium promo below is actually identical to one I already have, printed in blue! This purple-printed edition was definitely an unexpected find.
The Munchen promo from the Strange Behaviour Tour joins a series of similar posters in the archive, each advertising different shows. There were two poster styles from the German leg of the 1987 tour; this was one presentation, and the other consisted of a red & black flag/star graphic design. It's interesting to see such poster diversity within one specific country during a single tour.
A simple, understated gem from 1993, heralding the release of The Wedding Album. Even without any picture of the band, I think this poster captures the dramatic anticipation that came with Duran's big 'comeback'.
A promotion from the band's 2008 Italian tour, this poster is a spectacular Subway size (60" x 40").
Here's another Subway promo, from the Jesolo show in Italy. The promotional information on the bottom is actually a sticker that's been affixed, using unknown adhesives which could affect the paper over time. It helps to have a poster doctor on call in cases like this!
Finally, a stunning acquisition, promoting the Spritz On The Beach show in Italy. Larger than life, colorful and truly unique -- just like the band.
Thanks so much for your interest, and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Durandy
