I immediately think to ?A Forest? by The Cure: it remind me some nights in the forest of Fontainebleau that we spent with friends listening this song (and ?Seventeen Seconds?)... Great!
My second choice would probably be ?I'm in love with a German film star? by The Passions...

If you're really a new wave fan, you'll find it very hard to answer the question since there's a LOT of good wave tunes. As for me, I'll only enumerate my top 3 which are...
1. SMILES AND JOKES by White China
2. UNGUARDED MOMENT by The Church
3. RESCUE ME by The Alarm
